The Rules:

  • Collect any number of images that you feel represent you as a person—your personality, aspirations, favorite things, anything at all that makes you you.
  • Put your chosen images together into a collage of whatever size and shape you find pleasing.
  • Share your masterpiece with everyone, in all the places.
  • Maybe nominate other bloggers as a way to tell them, “Hey, you, I think you’re awesome, and we should celebrate that awesomeness.”
  • Share these rules (and maybe the below tips, if you’re feeling helpful).
  • Tips:

My aesthetic:

All photos taken from my Instagram – feel free to follow me on there!

I think it’s kind of self-explanatory.  Cats + books + summer + Vermont + tennis + theatre + NYC + trying and failing to master the art of the fishtail braid.  Me in a nutshell.

    • Thank you! Oh yay, I’ll have to look at the one you did before but you should definitely do it again! I immediately thought of you because I love the aesthetic of your Instagram.

      • I was honestly too intimidated by the sheer amount of possibilities if I used internet pictures, so I decided to stick with my own photos. But using pictures from the internet would also be a fun way to do it!

  1. Oooooh this one looks fun, thanks so much for tagging me! I love your collage, these pictures are beautiful. And I feel you on the fishtail braid, I only do it if I have a lot of time on my hands because it takes me forever haha XD

    • I can’t wait to see yours! Not that you have to use Instagram pictures, but your Insta is so pretty, I love your aesthetic! 💕 Oh god same, it takes me forever and my arms always get so tired and I start to regret all my life choices about halfway through. Also my hair is layered so half of it usually falls out anyway. But I am determined to master it one day!

      • Thank you! I’ll probably use my insta for book pictures but I have little else than books on there lol so I’ll use tumblr or something for the rest 😀 Braids are always a struggle but the fishtail is particularly annoying because the thinner strands you use the better it looks (at least on me), so when you have super thick hair it’ll take a lifetime ugh. I’ll braid a full crown braid faster than a fishtail XD

      • Ugh same!!! I have really thick hair too so it takes an eternity. I just watched a tutorial on how to do a crown braid and it looks really hard! I wonder if my hair might be a bit too short to do that successfully (it’s down past my shoulders so not terribly short, but also not long enough for some of the more elaborate braids). I wish I had someone to practice braiding on other than myself – my friend who lives with me has the kind of hair that’s so silky it falls out of a braid – I’ve tried doing a fishtail on her and it just falls out immediately, it’s painful to see my hard work wasted!!!

      • Yeah, it takes a bit of practice but I do the three usual thick sections and just dutch braid around (like normal braiding but going under instead of over if that makes sense) and then freestyle a bit when I have to rearrange my arms haha :’D And I totally get the struggle of braiding silky hair, I’ve done it on my friends and it’s a pain lmao. There needs to be at least SOME texture or everything just slips, you can’t let go of anything without having to pin it in place.

      • Ohhh that explanation actually made more sense to me than the video, but I am still struggling! I go through these phases where I get really determined to master a new kind of braid and I get obsessed with it for weeks. That’s probably going to happen now.

      • Haha yay, I’m glad it made sense! Sometimes how-to videos just confuse me even more, like with the crown braid, or at least the version I ended up doing, made more sense picture-by-picture. And also not looking in a mirror while doing it, that actually made me hesitate a lot more and I’d get hung up in every little thing. I know that feeling of obsessing over a certain braid though! I spent weeks last summer trying to master a waterfall kind of braid but I still can’t do it. It’s so confusing because you have to let go of strands and make new ones as you go to get a ripple effect so if you lose count it’s all ruined. Plus I have to straighten my hair to do it too because there can be no knots, so it was probably too much effort for me lol XD

  2. Thanks for the tag! I’ll tackle this sometime soon…

Love your pics! I could never fishtail braid my own hair, it’s difficult enough doing someone else haha. Have you ever attempted a waterfall braid? It’s another tricky one, but it has such a pretty fairytale vibe 🙂

  3. Ahhh I love all the colors in this! And the cats and books and nature! Also, I saw If We Were Villains at the bookstore yesterday and SO wanted to buy it, but it was like $25 bucks so I had to put it on hold…but ONE DAY!!

    • I am all about those colors! (Which is ironic because my wardrobe tends to consist of various shades of black, grey, white, and navy.)

Why do hardcovers have to be so expensive?! With the exception of BOTM which gives you discounted prices anyway, I can never justify buying hardcovers, especially when services like Netgalley exist. I’m always so mad when there’s a book I want to read but I missed the boat on requesting an ARC. I hope the Villains paperback comes out before too long!

      • I know!! I periodically check Amazon because their prices fluctuate, though paperbacks are definitely always cheaper. And I really like the cover of If We Were Villains so it’s one I just really want on my shelf, lol.

      • I have an Kindle, but I do prefer hardcopies. I do get those goodread emails though, and I subscribe to BookBub which also alerts you of daily e-reader discounts, so I have a lot of books on my Kindle that I haven’t read yet, woops. It always feels like a deal, but I’ve probably spent a looot of money on $1.99 books. I always use my kindle most when I travel, so I’m VERY prepared for a very long plane ride lol.

      • Oh god same, I don’t even want to know how many $1.99 books I’ve bought over the years! I also like to use eBooks for traveling. I’m going on vacation next week so maybe I will finally get caught up with Netgalley and tackle the backlog of random cheap eBooks I have on my kindle.

  4. OMG thank you so much for tagging me, I’ll try to do this as soon! Oh those pictures ❤ I'll try to find some good too hha! ❤ And you've read the book 'we were liars'? Would you recommend it even to someone who's not so much into contemporary? ❤
