7 Facts About Me
1. Maybe people already know this, but in case you guys don’t….. a public service announcement!! The ‘pace’ in my username is pronounced like ‘PAH-chay,’ not the English word ‘pace.’
2. I’ve apparently watched 60 movies so far this year and I have literally no idea how that happened.
3. I don’t believe in astrology at all because I am the most un-Aries person to ever exist. I’m not competitive, I hate conflict, I’m kind of timid, I’m not very optimistic or loud or courageous… I can definitely be impatient though. So at least I’ve got one Aries trait.
4. I have very bad luck with cars. I have had the following misfortunes befall me: flat tire, running out of gas, car accident, being pulled over, having my car towed, having my car damaged by the truck that towed it… ironically I am a pretty decent driver?? This is all probably proportionate to how much I drive, which is definitely more than the average person.
5. Bagels are my favorite food.
6. My Myers-Briggs type is either INFJ or INFP….. I don’t think I’m necessarily one or the other 100%. Whether I’m more J-type or P-type depends entirely on the situation.
7. The hardest reviews for me to write are the ones where I loved the book. I end up feeling like I’m just using the same superlative adjectives over and over. I struggle with this even more than reviews where I just found the book sort of okay. Those tend to be easy for me for whatever reason. (This fact is brought to you by: the ungodly long time it took me to write my ridiculously short review of The Absolutist.)

I was like “wow 60 movies is a lot” but that’s actually just over 1 movie a week, which isn’t too bad?? That’s like if you had movie night every Saturday. NBD. Also, I’m an INFJ too!!

I guess that’s kind of what I’ve been doing?? I feel like I watch movies most Saturdays…. but I’m still surprised it’s so high?? Especially because it’s technically over 60 – if I watch a movie more than once (which I have on multiple occasions) I’ll only have it on the list once.

MANY FAVORITES. The Lobster (which I have watched four times now, I’m obsessed), Dunkirk, Get Out, Lion, It Follows, Deux jours une nuit/Two Days One Night, The Killing of a Sacred Deer… I have plans to see Murder on the Orient Express and Lady Bird this week and I’m very excited about both of those!

I need to watch The Lobster then!! I loved Lion as well. I just saw Murder on the Orient Express and I thought it was good! Hope you enjoy it too!

You do!!! Fair warning it is…. very weird, but if you like dark comedies and are able to embrace the weirdness you’ll probably enjoy it! How did Orient Express compare to the book?

There are a few differences from the book but it was a very similar vibe. I thought they did a good job!

I’ve been saying pace like “pah-say” like there’s an accent over the e, lol….GLAD THIS HAS BEEN CLEARED UP!!

OMG that never even occurred to me as a potential pronunciation??? In Italian C followed by I or E makes a ‘ch’ sound, like ciao. To make it a hard C you spell it with a ‘ch,’ e.g., ‘mi chiamo’ (my name is) is pronounced ‘mee key-AHM-oh.’
And the stressed vowel is usually whichever is the penultimate syllable unless there’s an accent over the final syllable, e.g., caffè = cah-FEY, but pace (no accent) = PAH-chay.

I think it’s because I took Spanish in high school, so I’ve been pronouncing it as if it was a Spanish word lol. But this has been VERY informative, I’ve always wondered why ciao was spelled that way.

oh my god you should hear me try to say something in Spanish, even though I took Spanish for six years it has been totally eclipsed by the Italian accent for me?? Every time I try to say something in Spanish it just sounds Italian IT’S SO BAD. I took Spanish, French, and Latin in high school and then switched to Italian in college and AT THE TIME I could keep them all straight but now my brain is like ??¿¿¿ when I think about these languages more often than not RIP

Apparently INFJ’s tend to be Moreno spontaneous (think Nicole Kidman) and more focused on the long-term whereas INFP’s are more organised and concerned with how they personally feel about things (how authentic they are being).
And you’re conpletely right that the books you love are harder to review because all you want to scream is I LOVE THIS BOOK and you sort of have these unrealistic expectations and doubt that you will not do justice to it. Simon Sinek did a great video on WHY on books which might be pretty useful but it’s easier said than done still.
